Caramel is a tiny senior Chihuahua who came in as a stray with a microchip, but instead of finding her way

#SOS Grateful Hearts Senior Dog Rescue & Sanctuary Coast 2 Coast Rescue Levi the Husky Rescue Silent Rescue BAMM Rescue 🚨CARAMEL SCHEDULED FOR EUTHANASIA 10/31 AT 11AM FOR EMERGENCY MEDICAL🚨 PLEASE SHARE EVERYWHERE! 💔 Caramel is a tiny senior Chihuahua who came in as a stray with a microchip, but instead of finding her way home, she is now facing an emergency medical deadline. She has multiple serious orthopedic injuries that require specialized veterinary care DAS cannot provide in the shelter. Caramel’s right hind leg is fixed in an extended position, with suspected nerve damage that may have left her unable to use it. X-rays also revealed multiple pelvic fractures. Because of the severity of the damage and suspected loss of function, amputation of her right hind leg will likely be necessary. But that is only part of what she needs. Her pelvic fractures will also require extensive orthopedic surgery to repair. This little girl needs immediate evaluation by a private vet, major surgical intervention, pain management, & a lengthy recovery with appropriate rehabilitation. Without treatment, she faces continued pain, impaired mobility, & further complications. And despite everything her body is going through, Caramel has been incredibly gentle with the people caring for her. She is very sweet and allows them to pet her. At around 8 years old and only 10 pounds, she should be spending her senior years somewhere safe, not facing euthanasia because her medical needs are beyond the shelter’s resources. Caramel urgently needs a rescue partner willing to take on her complex medical care, including likely hind limb amputation, pelvic repair & postoperative recovery. She is eligible for emergency rescue placement before her 11/5 due-out date, but if owner comes forward before that, she’ll have to be returned for owner reclaim. She needs help NOW. ⸻ Caramel #A1302826 • Spayed Female, ~8 years, 10 lbs • Heartworm negative 📍Dallas Animal Services 1818 N Westmoreland Rd Dallas, TX 📩 EMAIL ASAP with a callback # & subject: “URGENT — Caramel A1302826” Rescue:!!️The Dogs Need Our Help is a volunteer-run networking page!!️
