They talked about how I lived peacefully with 3 senior adults, how I’m fully house-trained, know how to use a dog door, walk nicely on a leash, and know sit, shake, and go out. They said I got along great with the other dog, love to run, play, and chase my toys, and was a completely loving family member. But here at the shelter... I don’t feel like the same dog. I miss my family so much. I don't understand why I was left behind. Being back here has broken my heart and sent me into severe panic and grief. When staff approach my kennel to leash me, I am so confused and petrified that I hide in corners, whine, growl, and snap at the leash because I am terrified of what's happening to me. Yet, once I'm out in the yard and given a quiet moment to breathe, the real me starts to peek through - I'll walk up to handlers, lick their hands, place my front paws on their laps, and beg for gentle pets to feel safe again. I cannot be adopted directly by the public right now. I need an approved New Hope rescue partner and a patient, gentle Arizona foster home—a quiet household that will give me time to decompress, go slow with force-free handling, and help me heal my broken heart.
