Please save Eddie! 😭 When a shelter favorite receives a deadline, something heavy and suffocating shifts in the air. ⏰ FOSTER BY OCTOBER 19 My inbox is completely overflowing with messages from volunteers because Eddie is running out of time. Eddie is a 3.5 year old blockhead of pure love who has spent over 7 MONTHS behind bars. He originally came in attached to another dog, and for over half a year, he’s watched hundreds of dogs get saved while he sits forgotten and alone. Ask anyone who has walked him, handled him, or loved him, and they’ll tell you he’s the ultimate dream dog: 🐕 Non-reactive, completely ignores dogs barking in neighboring kennels, and trotted right past fence-charging dogs on his lake field trips without blinking an eye! 🐕 Hops into the car like a seasoned copilot, loves going for drive-thru burgers, goes bobbing for hot dogs in the play pool, and lovingly rests his head right on your lap. 🐕 Fully house-trained (does a happy little dance when he needs to go outside!), crate-trained, knows basic commands, and leans into you with every ounce of his body for cheek and back scratches. 🐕 He's an absolute ham who will do anything to make you smile, happily takes lick mats, and greets every friend with a soft, wiggly body. So why is he on the priority deadline list? Eddie is a big, bouncy dude who genuinely doesn't realize his own size. He gets so excited to see his humans that he jumps up to shower you with face kisses - and if you bend down at the wrong second, you might catch a clumsy, closed-mouth headbutt to the chin. His intake notes state he bit a mop handle and had a near bite where he didn’t break skin on the owner's leg... but whose dog doesn't think the mop is a terrifying monster trying to attack them? He’s just a starved-for-affection goofball whose energy and jumpy play style are compounding after 7 months trapped in a box. He doesn't need to be destroyed; he just needs basic structure, leash guidance, and an active human to teach him to keep four paws on the floor. He doesn’t deserve to die. Eddie will thrive in an active, loving foster home with older children due to his jumping that understands big-breed enthusiasm. Give him daily exercise, clear boundaries, water play, and a spot next to you on the couch, and he will be the most fiercely loyal, hilarious, and affectionate meatball you’ve ever met. He cannot be adopted directly through shelter public adoption. Eddie needs an approved New Hope rescue partner and a committed Arizona foster home to step up and save his life before it's too late.
